This drawing and or painting workshop aims to focus on the possibilities to see the world a little differently.

Students will be guided and encouraged to explore the environment in and around the Willoughby Arts Centre as well as working from other source materials, including the use of still life objects
through to digital images, exciting possibilities within the ordinary can be found in a myriad of places, working from the direct observation and the imagination.

This course will cover issues of composition, elements and principles of design, using positive and negative space, colour, tonal value both in line and mass as well as recognising the relationship of realism to abstraction and ways to explore unique possibilities. Students will be encouraged through a mentoring process ( artist to artist), working to develop an individual “voice” in their practice, from a novice to the experienced student an individual plan will found.

For week 1, sketchbook/pad, pencils, general drawing equipment etc.

Individual requirements discussed regarding materials needed going forward, i.e paints, wet or dry drawing equipment.

Suitable for intermediate to advanced students.
