Suitable for all levels, but some prior experience drawing is an advantage.

This workshop is ideal for people who want to learn how to draw buildings and street scenes with a better understanding of perspective. 

The class suits people who have an interest in mix media, architecture, and a desire to express their artistic voice in unique artworks.

What to expect in this workshop

  • Practice innovative drawing techniques to help you observe what you see.
  • Learn technical aspects about perspective drawing and the built environment.
  • Develop mixed media projects to expand your knowledge and skills.
  • Combine with feedback from the tutor, develop and complete your artworks inspired by techniques and projects on the day.

Materials

  • It is recommended to bring some urban landscape images to use along with some supplied on the day
  • A2 cartridge paper for drawing exercises (approx. 8 sheets)
  • 1 x Saunders Waterford or similar, approx. 300 or 425gsm, 560 × 760mm CP
  • 4B pencil
  • Charcoal both willow and compressed charcoal (few sticks of each)
  • Black ink (Art Spectrum/Matisse or similar, need at least 50ml) *Optional Sepia Ink
  • HARD eraser
  • Can of Fixative spray
  • White gouache
  • A few containers for ink. Can use empty yogurt containers/ take away food containers etc.
  • 1 x warm soft grey or white pastel.
  • Paper towel, masking tape, bulldog clips, ruler, and Stanley knife.

Optional

Any additional material you would like to bring along such as different supports, i.e. paper, board etc. to work on, collage material, inks, acrylics, pastels and so on.
