Exploring the (Un)Ordinary with Anthony Cahill - Holiday Workshop

Anthony is a lecturer in Drawing at the National Art School.

This drawing workshop aims to focus on the possibilities, through drawing to see the world a little differently.

Students will be guided and encouraged to explore the environment in and around the Willoughby Arts Center, where the exciting possibilities within the ordinary can be found, drawing from direct observation and the imagination.

During this workshop we will cover issues of composition, elements and principles of design, using positive and negative space, tonal value both in line and mass as well as recognising the relationship of realism to abstraction and ways to explore unique possibilities.

Materials:

Drawing pad/ paper cartridge or better quality and or sketchbook.

A range of drawing tools, whatever you have at hand, although at a minimum.

2b - 4b graphite pencils

Plastic and kneadable rubbers

A ruler
