Ever wondered how to create the illusion of depth and three-dimensional space in your drawings? This workshop will introduce students to the tools and techniques to effectively translate the observation of three-dimensional objects onto the two dimensional paper surface. Have fun exploring the flexibility and gestural nature of charcoal while developing you observational drawing skills. Materials and methods explored include sighting proportions in graphite, additive and subtractive methods with willow and compressed charcoal, and developing tone and form via hatching techniques with charcoal pencil.
