This workshop is suitable for those with some painting experience.
In this light-hearted and stress-free workshop you will learn to paint simple still life arrangements from life, focusing on individual flowers and other uncomplicated subjects.
For both oil and acrylic painters – Jackson will encourage you to hone your painting skills and challenge you to see what you can produce in a single painting session.
Students will receive guidance on painting techniques, colours, materials, and equipment.
Recommended for those with some painting experience but all welcome.
Materials you will need:
• Primed canvas: stretched or canvas board (any size you enjoy working on)
• Odourless artist’s solvent
• Several rags
• Range of hog bristle brushes: sizes 2-8, preferably rounds but any shape/size is fine; use any brushes that you have.
• Palette (disposable/wooden or plastic)
Recommended colours:
• titanium white
• cadmium yellow
• cadmium red
• alizarin red
• ultramarine
• raw umber
• yellow ochre
• lamp black (or any black)
• any other colours you have.
• (spectrum instead of cadmium is fine)
Additional materials for oil painters:
• Linseed oil
Additional materials for acrylic painters:
• There are many mediums available for the acrylic painter, please bring any that you already use.
• Optional: gel/retarder medium
