Join celebrated regional artist Rowen Matthews for this two day workshop painting dramatic escarpments.
Suitable for intermediate to advanced students.
This is a 2-day workshop on painting dramatic Australian escarpments for students who wish to explore gesture, colour, and particularly the effects of light, on natural rock formations predominantly in the Australian landscape, although the course can be adapted to other mountainous landscapes that you have visited and loved.
We will explore ways of depicting rock textures, hill-scapes, and bushland, both in strong sunlight and shadow. We will be applying large responsive mark-making with palette knives or large brushes in oils or thick water-based paint.
