Suitable for beginners and those wanting a refresher.
This workshop is for students who want to extend their knowledge of colour and gain practical skills in the application of colour in their work. We will discuss the fundamentals of colour theory and look at examples of how artists use colour in their work. Jackson will guide you through two important palette selections and demonstrate how a limited palette can be used to achieve a broad range of colour.
There will be two exercises designed to familiarise yourself with colour mixing.
1. Matching colours and palette exploration. This is an opportunity to explore how different mixtures of pigments can be used to obtain similar colours.
2. Colour study exercise. This will show students how a limited palette can be used in innovative and surprising ways to create a compelling image. The purpose of this activity is to gain valuable experience in the handling and application of colours onto canvas.
