You’ll learn to capture their distinctive forms, textures, and personalities while gaining confidence in your own creative expression. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises, you’ll develop keen observation skills and experiment with layering, tone, and line to bring your feathered subjects vividly to life.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop offers inspiration, practical techniques, and plenty of time to create your own original bird-themed artworks.

Materials List

• Black art liner pen
• 6B pencil and sharpener
• Compressed and willow charcoal
• Hard eraser (optional: electric eraser)
• Black ink
• A2 cartridge paper pad
• 2–3 sheets of A3 or A2 300gsm smooth watercolour paper
• Paper towel
• Masking tape
• 50–60 cm long stick
• Disposable gloves and facemask
• A couple of small containers for ink
• Metal spoon
• Reference images of your favourite Australian birds
