Painting and Drawing with Jane Alexander

This class caters for a mixed level of students.  Jane will set exercises for those that want it, to explore drawing and painting with mixed media. The more advanced student can work on their own projects and is encouraged to work in their preferred medium; painting, drawing or assemblage. With Jane’s assistance, students can further develop their skills using color, tone and mark-making to abstract their work. Students are encouraged to find and refine their style, and gain confidence in their artistic ability. Jane encourages students to let go, and create.

Watercolour Painting Techniques with Yvonne East

This course will support your artistic development with weekly projects and encourage the development of your own unique watercolour painting style. Each week you will be introduced to a drawing project to expand your skills. You will explore composition and expressive approaches to a variety of topics including, still life, urban scenes, landscapes, reflective surfaces such as water and metal, and painting the human form.  Knowledge of basic watercolour painting techniques such as laying flat and graduated washes, dragging and charging techniques, and a foundational understanding of colour mixing will be assumed.

Function, Form & Texture

This course is for both absolute beginners and students with prior knowledge of working with clay. We will explore various approaches to handbuilding and wheel throwing, with special projects given to design, sculpture and surface treatment. Advanced students are welcome to work on individual projects that involve more thorough exploration of ceramic processes, with the assistance of the tutor.
